With the exception of a wedding held at the Ocean Cliff...
With the exception of a wedding held at the Ocean Cliff hotel, our entire time in Negril was spent at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay all-inclusive resort. Transportation between the resort and the wedding venue was provided for us, so "getting around" wasn't an issue for us. But because we never visited any locale outside the resort, we cannot speak to any place or activity to be avoided: nothing in *our* particular experience needed to be avoided!

I like the climate but really felt guilty with all of the impoverished on this Island. With the water shortage I felt guilty taking a cool soothing shower .Being in a gated Resort felt safe, but also wanted to explore more outside of it. The resort is lovely tho and everything you could ask for was there.

Negril is the more laid back part of Jamaica.
Negril is the more laid back part of Jamaica. It is quiet, especially up in West End and the cliffs. So there you are not right on a beach but up on cliffs you can jump from or coves you can take a ladder down to swim. There are small markets and many mom-and-pop restaurants you can walk to. And lots of locals homes with their gardens and grazing animals. The beach area of Negril is flat and sandy. Depending on where you stay, you can be at a small place on the beach and walk to stores, town restaurants and small beach restaurants. Or, you can stay at an all inclusive and never leave the property. We like Negril better than Ocho Rios ( but seeing Dunns Falls and Bob Marley’s home in Ocho Is a must) We like Negril because of its less touristy feel. If you’re here without children, you should split your time between beach and cliffs.Morrison - 10Scored 10

I absolutely loved our vacation in Negril! I loved the cliffs and beach, the food, locals, scenery but I would’ve preferred to stay at another hotel. The restaurants were amazing and the sea was breathtaking. Can’t wait to return. Especially to rock house!

The location on the cliffs was beautiful and peaceful and my boyfriend loved being able to jump in for an early morning swim in the sea before breakfast. Ivan’s the restaurant had the best food! When chatting to other locals they said it was their favourite spot in Negril. The staff were also super friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Coral Suite and loved it. The room was spacious, bright, clean, with a big veranda to relax on. The bed was also very comfy. We had such a great stay.

On arrival to the apartment nobody was there to greet me, it then took 30 minutes for someone to come to the apartment only to tell me that they did not recieve a notification from booking.com regarding my stay. Needless to say, after the nonchalant, abrupt and rude response I received from the representative I booked elsewhere. Also its worth noting that the apartment is in the less desirable area of Negril.

A one night stay ended up being three nights. What was even better we had the whole hotel to ourselves (there was no one else checked in because it was a low season). There was no noise. The wifi was one of the best that I have used in Jamaica. Local restaurants where all walking distance from the hotel. We would definitely stay here again if we where in Negril.

We stayed at 4 different different resorts in Jamaica (in Montego Bay, Ocho Riios, Kingston, and Negril) as we travelled around the island, they were all nice and so, but none of them beats Riu Palace in Negril.
