We chose the wrong time to visit Katherine during monsoon season. Most tourist sites are closed and very limited to what you can do. It’s a waste of time for us. In addition the accommodation we booked didn’t meet our expectations, so we decided to drive back to Darwin.

We only spent a day at Katherine, as we were on the way to Kakadu. We visit the Katherine hot springs which was lovely for a morning dip as there weren't many people there yet. Would recommend canoeing in Katherine Gorge, stunning views and you might see some crocodiles. Edith falls is also another good place to visit for a hike and swim.michiemooAustralia

The owners were very accommodating and so thoughtful. We went and did the dinner cruise at the gorge (also recommended) and when we got back there was a camp fire set up for us! Every detail of the stay was thoughtfully planned. There was nothing we didn’t like. Having stayed in a number of places around Katherine, this is definitely my pick.
