Situated within the Kastel Stafilic district in Kastel Stafilic, Airport Split has air conditioning, a balcony, and sea views. This beachfront property offers access to a terrace and free WiFi. This was a great place to stay near the airport. First, it’s important to note that it’s an apartment (more like an airbnb) rather than a hotel. That being said, the owner and her family were very communicative and arranged to meet me at the property. The apartment was very clean (like immaculate clean) and comfortable. The apartment was also stocked with all the necessities, which saved me a trip to the store (snacks/coffee in the kitchen, body wash, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap etc) for which I was very grateful after a long day of traveling. The airport is an easy 10 minute walk around the block.

Our stay this time was very short but we liked the atmosphere of the old town. Lots of tourists still but quieter in the evening. walking inside the old town is easy, it is so small that one cannot get totally lost, the sea always lurks at the end of some street. The main road outside the old town is now under repairs, that a litte bit cursed difficulties for walking - but a passing problem! Maybe the walking bridge - which was not in use now - will also be repaired.
Okrug Gornji didn't have much to offer beside the beaches. We needed to go to the downtown, to Okrug Donji where better supply of all major turistic activities is located. That would be like 10 minutes car drive.
We appreciated the explanation of how to turn on the hot water and AC. The snacks in the fridge helped to fill the edge until we got to the restaurant. The entire apartment is clean and modern. We enjoyed our stay. We had to catch an early flight out and were able to easily walk to the airport from the apartment. I would definitely stay there again.
Slatine is not big but it has a small grocery store, several cafes, beach eateries etc. The city has narrow streets. The beaches are rocky. The nearest town is Trogir. From Slatine goes the ship to Split. The price is much better than taxi. It's ~3 euro (25 kuno) per person. And by ship you can get to Split in 30 minutes. Ship goes several times in a day. Last ship from Split to Slatine is at 8 PM.
We only stayed one night, before flying back to Uk. I walked from our apartment to the nearest supermarket (approx. 1.3 miles), along a busy road with no pavement on either side of road. The amount of rubbish along the sides of the road was disgusting.
It's a nice city with it's old houses and good restaurants. Close to Split, Trogir, Krka national park (1 hour). The newer area of the city offers enough supermarkets and stores. No shopping areas, really. Church-bells on every day morning at 6, 7 am and longer bells at 7:45 ... was a bit disturbing and wakes you up. At least during the 2 months of vacation season they could consider to switch this off. I mean: Who needs to know that it is 6am or 7am especially at weekends, when on vacation? Who does not have a watch nowadays? Consider the airport is 10 minutes away.
