The food was really good and there’s a semi wild orang utan with a baby that climbs in the trees next to the huts sometimes! I would highly recommend staying here.

Located almost directly in the jungle this accommodation is a wonderful place to find peace and connect with locals, such as Sam and his team. The bungalows are clean and provided us with everything we needed. The best part of our stay there was the staff: they are incredibly nice and welcoming in every way. They took us through a trekking tour in the jungle where we spent a night camping. Not only did they guide us through the jungle (we saw orang Utans and many other animals !!) but also they prepared wonderful meals, made a bonfire and sat down with us to chat and play games at night - always with a smile on their face. It was such a great experience which we will never forget! Thank you Sam, Andre, Ram, Riki and rest of the team!!

She was always available whenever i needed something and it was always great to have a chat with her. Tia also organized a jungle tour for me, which was an incredible experience. It was great that I did Not have to take care of anything. You can even tell her what you expect from your guide- if you would like to have a fun and entertaining guide who makes sure you won’t get bored or someone calm to just get Professional i nformation about the jungle and enjoy the peace of nature. A big thank you and I hope I can come back to this magical place someday 🌴

We ate within the on-site restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious every time. We hope to come back to visit again in the future!

Medan is the main city in North Sumatra and the closest city to Kuala Namu International airport, which is about 32km out of town. I have been a regular visitor to North Sumatra over the past few years so have had occasion to spend a few nights there each year. It is not that Medan is a bad city ....... it is just that there is nothing of great interest there and it isn't at all attractive. My tip ....... and what I do ......... is spend a night or 2 there then get out to North Sumatra's main attractions. (Lake Toba, Berestagi, Bukit Lawang) Having said that I find the people in Medan friendly enough and it is a good place to exchange money before you head to Lake Toba where money change options / ATM's are less reliable and the rates aren't so good.

Medan is a necessary transit point for onward travel in Sumatra. Unfortunately it is blighted by chaotic roads and very poor urban planning. It's new rail link to and from the new airport is a wonderful initiative. Hopefully more such public transport plans are in the offing.

All Sumatra has fantastic nature! This place is special, the restaurants and guest houses are nicely set by the river and the walks around adventure. This is the place where you can see the Orangutans in the forest and that is an unforgettable experience!

It’s more of a town than a city.
It’s more of a town than a city. Compared to cities in Java, Padang is relatively smaller and less developed. But definitely good to explore outside of Java and see Sumatra, which is a much larger island. Roads around Padang are smaller but traffic is OK.

The hostel is new and clean, the rooms have only one bed, and the shared bathrooms on the corridor. There's a table with free tea and coffee on the corridor. The stuff is very friendly and helpful even though they speak little English. They helped me with a taxi to Padang at an incredible low price (I wouldn't have gotten this with any travel agency). Internet is very fast and good. The best place I stayed in Sumatra so far.

During the drive to Medan we stopped for great Javanese meal, and driver from rest house gave us good advice for better stay in Medan (after encounter with bad hotel in Medan). Large clean appartement, friendly staff, good Indonesian breakfast, second time when we had to leave early they offered a take away breakfast. Also handy is the CIMB bank opposite of the hotel.

Great hotel, lovely helpful staff and very clean. Large room and comfortable bed. Nice to hang around the pool. Massive buffet breakfast (extra cost). Good place to stay for a couple of nights or on arrival/departure to Sumatra. Good value for money.

Great hotel just in the heart of the city. Beautiful courtyard with pool. There is a bar there, where you can enjoy evening with J&T or other cocktails, which is rare occasion in Sumatra 🙂

Overall fine hotel, location is good near the train station and some of the very few sights that Medan has to offer. Ideal for a stop-over to travel to other parts of Northern Sumatra.
