Hotel Montevideo - Leading Hotels of the World ligger i Montevideo, 14 minuters promenad från Pocitos strand, och erbjuder boende med en utomhuspool, privat parkering, ett fitnesscenter och en... We are a family of four and stayed in two adjoining rooms for 5 nights. All of us absolutely loved the hotel, to be honest it is probably our favourite hotel ever! The location is great in a safe, trendy area, full of restaurants and close to the beach. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with a jaw dropping lobby. It is convenient, not too big, with a very good restaurant on the ground floor and a tapas bar/bar on the rooftop, where there is also a very nice pool, overlooking the neighbourhood and sea. The gym is on the 1st floor, with the most beautiful wooden equipment I have ever seen. The parking is on level minus one and very handy. The rooms themselves are beautiful, with details like an ornate and quirky water jar, a small but well designed desk, a balcony, a coffee machine and a well equipped mini bar and a nice balcony. Oh, and the mattresses and linen were heavenly. On top of this super nice staff and you have a recipe for what certainly is one of the leading hotels of the world, for a song!

Located in Montevideo, in front of the beach Pocitos Beach, Hotel Costanero MGallery provides accommodation with a restaurant, private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a bar. The hotel was perfect, with a very good location in front of the beach in a safe neighbourhood. The staff was polite and super helpful. The room was exactly as described. Very clean with amazing view. One of the best we have visited.

The Alma Hotel exceeded our expectations in all regards. The hotel, our room, the staff and location were all superlative. Hidalgo and Nelson booked us with good restaurants, were so helpful with travel plans, and went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Breakfast of omelets, baked goods, fruit and coffee was generous and delicious. The Cuidad Vieja was a lovely place to stay, plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and it was quiet and safe.

I decided to spend some time and write this review because the hosts of this little gem were exceptional. The room and the common spaces were all very clean and had an artistic touch. You do not get the feeling of staying in a hotel or an airbnb. The great hosts along with the property welcomes you in a relaxed atmosphere, which is ideal for families. The breakfast was great and we enjoyed the swimming pool a lot. I definitely recommend this place.

Great value fo
We stayed in the Punta Carretas area which turned out to be a great choice. We loved the grill restaurant La Perdiz and next door bar Negroni, sat at the counter and admired the work of the bartenders handicrafting beautiful drinks. We also enjoyed a meal at Uruguay Natural and shopping at Punta Carretas, including a large super market. The old town of Montevideo is sadly ran down but a lunch/late lunch at the Mercado del Puerto is a must. We liked Café Brasilero close to the beautiful square Plaza Constitución. In the Centro we enjoyed an outdoor beer in Plaza Ing Juan Pedro Fabini. For tourists, restaurants are really cheap since they deduct 20% VAT if you pay with a foreign credit Card (at least Visa).

Montevideo är en vänlig storstad.
Montevideo är en vänlig storstad. Pulsen finns liksom de pittoreska marknaderna och kampen mot fattigdomen. Många hus är slitna men i det slitna finns också en stolthet. Att ta sig runt med stadens bussar är enkelt och kostar ca 10 SEK/resa. Marknaden i centrala Montevideo, ett måste för turisten liksom musiken.

Lätt att ta sig runt i Montevideo, mycket goda...
Lätt att ta sig runt i Montevideo, mycket goda bussförbindelser, lätt att få tag på taxi. Gillar man kött finns fantastiska köttrestauranger bl a i Mercado del Puerto i Gamla staden nära hamnen. Turister som betalar med kort får monsen avdraget vilket betyder en rabatt på ungefär 20 procent av notan. Gamla stan är mycket vackert med massor av gamla byggnader, flera av dem från 18 hundratalet. Goda badstränder, strandpromenaden är många kilometer lång. Människor är vänliga och hjälpsamma. Lätt att kommunicera även om man inte behärskar spanska. Mellan mitten av Januari och början av mars pågår karnevalen med flera parader runt om staden, mycket festlig och folklig tillställning.

Montevideo är en mycket trevlig stad med flera torg/parker med skuggande träd i den gamla stadskärnan och i centrum. Montevideo är promenadvänligt med gågator som sträcker sig som ett bakvänt L från Plaza Independencia till Mercado del Puerto. Det finns även strandpromenader längs Las Ramblas. Ett besök på grillrestaurangerna i Mercado del Puerto kan rekommenderas. Rejäla portioner kött och goda lokala viner. Även goda och prisvärda empanadas hos Empanadas CarolinA i entrén till Mercado Del Puerto. För shopping rekommenderas ett besök på söndagsmarknaden Feria de Tristan Narvaja. Där kan man hitta allt från antikviteter, samlarföremål och mat till levande djur! Passa även på att besöka Museo de los Andes och ta del av den smått otroliga historien om de 16 personer som överlevde 72 dagar i Anderna efter en flygkrasch 1972. För en fantastisk utsikt över staden rekommenderar jag ett besök i skyskrapan Torre Antel. De har guidade visningar måndag - fredag. Besök även Museo del Gaucho för en intressant inblick i kulturen kring dessa sydamerikanska ”cowboys”. Ett besök i Motevideo rekommenderar jag definitivt!

Bra hotell, men otroligt mycket drogpåverkade och skumma människor som rör sig i direkt anslutning till hotellet på helgen. För första gången i Sydamerika kände jag mig otrygg när jag gick ut, så pga läget skulle jag inte bo där igen om jag skulle åka tillbaka till Montevideo.

The hotel is a bit further from the city center, but is located in a gated community which is great for security and had beautiful grounds. A relaxing place to arrive after a busy day in the city. They offer also bikes so you can use it and enjoy the lovely property. They offer also internal heated pool which is great for colder days. Easy access to the road.

Location. It had breakfast included in the price. Quiet. Comfortable. Wi-fi, and excellent shower, with lots of hot water (travelled in winter). A go-to place.

The place is classic, and the service is excellent. The breakfast is complete. It is located 2 blocks from the Tres Cruces Bus station, where you can find taxis to the airport, shopping, and food outlets. If you are backpacking, you have the possibility of continuing your trip to Brazil or Argentina using long-distance buses. It serves as an excellent resting point and is well-located. The city of Montevideo is always incredible.
